Paper-based tuberculosis diagnostic devices with colorimetric gold nanoparticles

A colorimetric sensing strategy employing gold nanoparticles and a paper assay platform has been developed for tuberculosis diagnosis. Unmodified gold nanoparticles and single-stranded detection oligonucleotides are used to achieve rapid diagnosis without complicated and time-consuming thiolated or other surface-modified probe preparation processes. To eliminate the use of sophisticated equipme...

Spécialité: Sciences du Médicament

A label-free, homogeneous aptamer-based sensor strategy was designed for the facile colorimetric detec-tion of small target molecules. The format relied on the target-induced protection of DNA aptamer fromthe enzymatic digestion and its transduction into a detectable signal through the length-dependentadsorption of single-stranded DNA onto unmodified gold nanoparticles (AuNPs). The ...

High performance liquid chromatographic analysis of reduction products of a thiolated DNA for immobilization on gold nanoparticles

DNA-based nano-biosensors are emerging scope in the field of biosensors. Many synthetic single stranded functional DNAs have been applied for development of such sensors, recently. Immobilization of DNA oligonucleotides on the surface of gold nanoparticles is a key step in the development of most colorimetric nano-biosensors. The bound DNA is usually thiolated and forms Au-S covalent bond to th...

Colorimetric detection of DNA, small molecules, proteins, and ions using unmodified gold nanoparticles and conjugated polyelectrolytes.

We have demonstrated a novel sensing strategy employing single-stranded probe DNA, unmodified gold nanoparticles, and a positively charged, water-soluble conjugated polyelectrolyte to detect a broad range of targets including nucleic acid (DNA) sequences, proteins, small molecules, and inorganic ions. This nearly "universal" biosensor approach is based on the observation that, while the conjuga...

Colorimetric Detection of Lead Ion Based on Gold Nanoparticles and Lead-Stabilized G-Quartet Formation

In this report, we present a method for the detection of Pb2+ based on the different adsorption capacity on the surface of gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) between ssDNA (single-stranded DNA) and G-quartet. In the absence of Pb2+, the DNA oligonucleotides probe, which is guanine-rich ssDNA, can be adsorbed on the surface of AuNPs protecting them from aggregation. After adding Pb2+, the DNA oligonucle...
